因為最近在補GRE的關係，決定把自己練習分析寫作的文章謄寫後放在這裡，也算是幫自己做個紀錄，同時希望隨著日子的繼續而能作為之後檢討之用。來這裡的人其實不多，但當然希望碰巧看到的友人也能幫忙挑錯就是了。
So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present.

There are two essential parts in this sentence：(1)So much is new and complex today. (2)We can get little guidance for living in the present when looking back for an understanding of the past. I totally agree the first point. However, the past plays really an important role in human history that I can’t accept the second concept.
In nowadays, there are so many technologic ideas and products which changes the world quickly. For instance, the American professional basketball league, NBA, start to use ”instant replay” to see if a team scores in twenty-four seconds. They use cameras to re-see the game for impartiality. Before NBA, National Football League, also can be called NFL, has begun it for a few years. A team’s coach can have a challenge to check whether it’s a touchdown, an incomplete pass, or a fumble recover. How can we imagine these ten or twenty years ago?
Besides new technology, there are more and more people live in this world than one or two hundred years ago, like China and India. And inevitably people will contact and connect more frequently. It absolutely makes the relationship and society more complex. We can see what happened recently. Many murder cases are resulted from money, unfaith and even grades. For example, there is ever a case happened in my college：Two female classmates both fell in love with a same guy. One eventually killed the other and used chemical fluid to dissolve the body. It’s really unbelievable, and it’s really complex.
When people can’t understand something, they usually want to search answers in a book or from a mentor. It would be an old book or an experienced person cause we may think old or experienced know the past. Confucius, the ancient Chinese, had ever said ”If you are amenable, peaceful , worth of trust and politic, you can get along with people all around the world well.” It just can provide us a answer, or a guidance.
Into the twenty-first century, there will be more and more products, ideas or even concepts so new and complex that we can’t fully understand or accept them. Like my parents, they don’t know how to use internets, but they still can live and foster my brother and me well. Because they just adhere to some old and basic values like humbleness, hard working and sincerity. The past still guide us in the present.
